The Shoal

I’ve lived here for a couple years. The location is absolutely perfect! It’s close to everything in the city without being directly in the middle of downtown, you’re in the best part of town. The manager Megan and the staff goes out of their way to make the community a better place. I attached a picture of a view from the sky lounge. Overall I feel extremely safe and happy to live here!

I’ve had such a great experience living at The Shoal Apartments in Austin! The community is clean, quiet, and super convenient, but what really sets this place apart is the amazing team that runs it. Alexis and Megan in the office are truly the best. Always warm, welcoming, and on top of everything. Anytime I’ve needed help with a package, a question, or anything at all, they handle it quickly and with such a friendly attitude. They genuinely make the property feel like home. The maintenance team is just as incredible. Eddie and Oscar are fast, knowledgeable, and so respectful. Any work order I’ve submitted has been handled promptly, and they always go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. Overall, The Shoal is an awesome place to live, and the staff is a huge reason why. Couldn’t recommend it more!

I’ve lived here for 9 months. From the beginning I’ve had many issues. - The AC does not stay on the temperature you set it to. For example, when I set the AC to 68 the temperature is usually 72 degrees in my 355 square foot apartment. I was told this is “normal” for this variance. - This is my first time using a European washer and dryer. The washer is fine but I have had so many issues with the dryer. It doesn’t property dry and makes your clothes smell burnt. On top of that, there is no adequate lint trap so any fuzz or pet hair is still on your clothes. I began using the dryer in the shared laundry room here but residents do not empty the lint trap and after finding toenail clippings I refuse to use them. Recently I had an issue with my W/D and maintenance completely replaced it without even telling me. I went to use the washer this week and there was SOMEONE’S SMELLY WET CLOTHES in my washer. I immediately called to complain and I didn’t even receive an apology other than “maintenance replaced your W/D” the next day. - The staff, especially Alexis is not friendly. She has ignored many emails from me and is not welcoming. Megan and Alexis both have sent me passive aggressive emails multiple times. - Maintenance recently left my door unlocked while I was out of town for multiple days. Thankfully no one entered my apartment but this is not okay and all I received was a pitiful “I’m sorry”. - My apartment is by the gym and since moving here I have heard people in the gym dropping weights. I complained for months for them to finally add a small note by the weights and they admitted I was the only resident complaining which is probably why it took so long. After they added the note, tenants have not been respectful still and I wake up from dropped weights at 5 am and midnight often. - There really is no community feel to this apartment so just something to consider when you sign here. Most people are to themselves so that can be a pro or con to you. - The 7th floor hallways smell awful. I’m sure it’s from residents not putting the trash in a bin and trash seeping into the carpet. So hopefully you don’t live on that floor.
